A block map of a FAT16 disk with boot, FAT, root directory and data blocks marked and labelled with the bytes each write changed.

fs-emulator

Filesystem emulators on an in-memory disk, written in Rust as a learning tool and compiled to WebAssembly. Every byte is a genuine on-disk layout — exported images mount on macOS and Linux — and every operation records which bytes changed and why. FAT16, ext2 and ext3 so far. The browser explorer shows a filesystem lay itself out one operation at a time, with a terminal drawer built on browser-terminal.
